It's a subject of some furious debate as to whether or not to take wedding photos before the ceremony or after the ceremony. Before the ceremony ruins the whole, 'don't let the groom see the bride until she appears in the church' idea, but waiting until afterwards tends to make for a long wait for your guests between the ceremony and reception. Here are some pros and cons of taking photographs before the ceremony.
Pros
~ Photographers prefer to take the photos before because they don't have the pressure of two hundred guests tapping their collective toes waiting to visit with the bride and groom. They feel as if they can take their time.
~ You will look close to perfect as you ever will that day, with no time for tears or beverages spilled to mar your perfection.
Cons
~ Can be draining.
~ Takes away that one singular moment when the groom spies his beloved walking toward him during the ceremony.
~ If you take your pictures before the ceremony, allow one and a half to two hours for the photographers.
~ If you have your photographers taken after the ceremony, you'll need to allow for the same amount of time between the ceremony and reception. One compromise if you don't want the groom to see you until the ceremony, is to have the photographer take as many pictures as he can without the two of you together before, and finish the remainder after the ceremony.
~ After the ceremony, takes pictures working from the largest groups down to the smallest groups, this frees up more people to quickly, so they can join the guests when they're done.
