Shopping for Wedding Photographers

When making your decision, try to consider all of the factors mentioned below, as well as price, then decide at what price range you will be most comfortable.

  • Are there any guarantees on their products or work?

  • Are the samples you see in the studio created by the photographer who will be at your wedding?

  • Will you be able to meet your photographer prior to the wedding?

  • Do you feel comfortable with the photographer, and would you enjoy being together on your wedding day?

  • Do you like their quality of work, and style?

  • Ask to see a complete wedding album, from one wedding. Would you be happy with an album of equal quality and style?

  • Do they offer any special or unique items such as signature portraits, black and white, hand tinted portraits, etc.?

  • Does the studio do retouching to smooth skin? Is it extra?

  • Are the portraits finished with a lacquer, or laminate for protection? Is it extra?

  • What type of albums does the studio offer?

  • Does the studio offer engagement portraits? Is it extra?

  • Is there an extra charge for outdoor portraits?

  • Does the studio offer help in designing your album?

  • Are their packages flexible?

  • Do they have payment plans or different payment options?

  • Is there a maximum # of poses taken?

  • Do they have a discount for off season weddings?

  • Will the photographer travel out of town? How much extra is it?

  • Is there a toll free phone#, or email address, for out of town customers to use?

  • Is the studio available in case of bad weather?

  • How large a group will the studio accommodate? Ask to see samples.

  • Does the studio have different sets, or just plain backgrounds?

A Final Note:

Remember that in the many years to follow, there are only two things that will remain as reminders of your special day your memories; and your photographs. Memories last forever, make sure your portraits do too!

It may be better to spend a little more than you planned, instead of less than you should.
