Bridal Bouquet Preservation

With all the effort, time, money, and love that go into planning a wedding, one detail that is often overlooked is floral preservation. Do you really want to discard your lovely bridal bouquet? There is a better way thanks to the latest technology in flower preservation, a blend of science and art!

Modern technology, used for years in the pharmaceutical industry, has made it possible to freeze dry your bouquet, thereby preserving the “freshly picked” color, texture, and shape of your flowers. Proper freeze-drying doesn’t make flowers brittle and lifeless as traditional drying methods do. There are very few experts in this industry because the equipment is expensive, requires extensive training to operate, and knowledge about flowers and floral design.

There are a few things you should ask about prior to selecting a company to preserve your flowers:

  • Do they pre-treat and rehydrate the flowers before they freeze-dry them? This process helps retain the color of your flowers and opens the cells so they freeze dry with a natural look.

  • All bouquets should be photographed and then dismantled for freeze-drying to be most effective.

  • To retain their shape, color, and texture after the process flowers should be post-treated. This process coats each flowers with a thin, transparent layer that protects them from UVA rays and humidity.

Not all freeze drying companies offer this process. Without these steps, however your flowers may not look as good as possible, retain their natural look, or last for years.

Preserved flowers are attractive accents for any home. There are hundreds of frames, glass or acrylic domes, and beautifully creative custom wall and table designs available to display your flowers. Shop around for the look that fits your style. Consult a floral preservationist at least two months prior to your wedding so you can arrange to have your flowers shipped or delivered while they are still fresh.

Just as you preserve your wedding gown, photographs and other sentimental memorabilia, you can now preserve your bridal flowers for a lifetime of enjoyment.
