A Perfect Fit For Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids will usually be several sizes apart and it can be difficult finding garments that will look good on their different body frames. Concentrate on the cut of the dress first. Will it look good on all of the attendants? A simple, basic cut generally looks good on everyone. Does it come in the colors that you want to use for your wedding? If not, you can work around this by doing one or more of the following:

1. Have the maid of honor’s dress made of your favorite color and buy the other dresses in an available, contrasting color.

2. Use your favorite color to accessorize your wedding and to bring out your color focus. Hair combs, hates, gloves, shoes, ribbons, and flowers can act as vivid accents. In many art forms, it is the accents that make the statement memorable.

3. Have all your dresses made. Some brides simply buy a pattern and material for each bridesmaid’s dress and send it off to be them to be made by a seamstress that is located near where they live. The main thing here is to be certain there is a qualified seamstress doing the construction in each case. A good seamstress can create a dress in a relatively short period of time. Be sure to specify the finished length of the dress so they will all look similar in length for your wedding photos. Having them all hemmed eight inches off the floor in stocking feet easily does this. This method will create a tea-length hemline. Using the same size heel will make the hemlines even for your pictures.

4. Find a dress that is available in both solid and print materials. This will give more versatility for outfitting different body frames and let you mix and match according to what looks best on each person. Printed dresses let you draw out one of several colors that can be used for matching solid colored dresses. Some companies are now producing a few dress styles for bridesmaids that come in both solid and print material for this reason.

5. You could even go with diversity and have the bridesmaids where different but similar style dresses. They could be in different shades of your wedding colors, giving you a colorful ray to accent the theme/colors of the wedding. Make sure to set some guidelines for the girls to follow when choosing a dress.

These suggestions should help you when it comes to getting the dresses for the bridesmaids, and maybe even lower some of the stress usually accompanied with this task.
